Eoghann Mill Irving

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Eoghann has been practicing to be an angry old man for over 50 years now and it starting to get quite good at it.

Eoghann Mill Irving – Yesterday probably

As you may be able to tell from the name I’m Scots and by that I don’t mean I can trace my ancestry back to Scotland. I was born and lived in Scotland for the first 28 years of my life before moving to the United States and eventually becoming a dual citizen. I dabble a lot with technology and IT, including a home server set up.

Eoghann and Work

If you want all the gory details you can check out my resume. The short version is I have 20 years of Government Subcontracting and Procurement experience, 10 of which have been in management positions. Prior to that I spent some time designing databases for websites.

My IT knowledge includes (but is not limited to) Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Ubuntu, PHP, Python, WordPress, and Docker. I consider myself an IT tinkerer at this point and run servers just for the fun of it.

Photography has been an interest of mine for going on 20 years now but I classify myself as an enthusiastic amateur. As I’ve progressed I’ve found myself increasing frustrated with most photography sites which either emphasize the gear or talk to the professional

Yes, I just finished saying that I wasn’t going to be writing about camera equipment and for the most part that’s true. But people always want to know this stuff so I figured I’d put it here. Currently I’m using a Panasonic Lumix G9 and the lenses I primarily use (as well as sometimes the kit lens) are:

  • Panasonic 25mm f1.7 – Very compact and just a great all purpose lens
  • Panasonic Lumix G Lens, 42.5mm, f1.7 – This is a great portrait lens and handles indoor lighting as well as providing a shallow depth of field.
  • Pansonic Leica DG Vario 8-18mm – My new ultra-wide angle lens for landscape photography
  • Panasonic Leica DG Vario 100-400mm – this is a monster of a telephoto lens and I’m still getting to grips with it, but it has so much potential for wildlife photography.
